Skin moisturizer

Skin moisturizer is designed to smooth and hydrate the skin, preventing the dryness that often leads to irritation. Skin moisturizers can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When choosing your moisturizer, it is important to consider your skin type so that you can select the product that is best for you.

Oily skin

People with oily skin should opt for non-comedogenic or oil-free moisturizers, which help prevent dryness without aggravating one’s acne. There are a variety of oil-free moisturizers on the market today. For instance, those currently suffering from acne breakouts might try Dermanew’s Active Hydrator, which is a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer designed to soothe and heal inflamed skin. With the combined elements of chamomile and allantoin, a two-ounce bottle not only heals and soothes, but also works to prevent future breakouts and can be purchased for under $35.

Another popular oil-free moisturizer is Joey New York’s Pure Pores Oil Blotting Moisturizer, which sells for under $25. This lightweight moisturizer comes in a two-ounce bottle and is formulated with ginseng and other plant extracts in order to nourish and oxygenate the skin while tightening the look of large pores and absorbing excess oil.

Dry skin

People with dry skin should use a creamier moisturizer. If you suffer from dry skin, you’ll want to make sure you moisturize two times a day, applying your moisturizer to slightly dampened skin whenever possible.

There are many moisturizers on the market today specifically designed for the treatment of dry skin. Dr. Brandt’s Balanced Body Moisturizer, which sells for $50, comes in a 6.7 ounce bottle and is formulated to smooth and re-hydrate severely dry skin. Ahava’s Intensive Moisturizer For Very Dry Skin aims to restore the skin’s natural moisture level while creating a softer, smoother appearance. Selling for $42, the hypoallergenic product comes in a 1.7 ounce bottle and contains a UV filter.

Men might try Babor’s Daily Moisturizer For Men, a moisturizing face cream for dry and sensitive skin. The 75 ml bottle sells for $30 and is enriched with ingredients such as vitamin E, aloe vera extract and macadamia nut oil.

Normal/Combination Skin

Most people have what it is known as “combination” skin, which means that their skin is oily in certain areas – primarily the forehead, nose, and chin (otherwise known as the “T-zone”) – and dry in other areas such as the cheeks and neck. People with combination skin should select non-comedogenic moisturizers that feature an SPF component of at least 15. In fact, with all skin types being equally at risk of the dangers of the sun, we should all be seeking skin moisturizer products that contain a sun protection factor.

Osmotics Illuminating Balancing Complex comes equipped with an SPF 15 and is designed for both oily and combination skin types. The oil-free moisturizer provides balanced hydration while protecting skin from environmental pollution and the sun’s harmful rays. In addition to providing hydration and sun protection, this product, which comes in a 3.4 ounce bottle and can be purchased for $60, is believed to greatly reduce the visible signs of aging.
